About Muriwai Lodge

Muriwai Lodge and its campground has been part of the Muriwai Beach experience since 1921 when the Lodge building was built. The Lodge opened in 1922 and over the last century it has been much loved by the residents of Muriwai and its millions of visitors – as a place to stay, a place to eat & drink and buy provisions. The ‘Top Shop’ takeaways were legendary!

In 2019 all activity on the site ceased and it did not start coming back to life until May 2021 when the Lodge and its grounds were sold to new owners. The Muriwai Lodge Revival began…

Lodge Apartment 1

You enter this spacious three-bedroom apartment through the original Lodge entrance head up the main stairs. Turn right at the top to the first of the huge bedrooms and on to the family bathroom – swing back along the Lodge hallway and peek into the second of the enormous bedrooms and the small single room that opens out to the west facing deck.

Lodge Apartment 2

Lose yourself in the gorgeous west coast sunsets as you relax on the outdoor deck or sink into the comfortable sofa and enjoy the peace of your surrounds or take a walk down through the forest to the beach and work up an appetite by exploring as much or as little of the 50km beach as you want…

Cabin 01

This archetypical Kiwi one-bedroom bach has returned to its historic Kiwiana roots with what might its first ever makeover. Fully redecorated and reimagined it is the perfect place for a couple to stay. Enjoy the buzz of being ‘in’ the action happening on site and soak up the light and views from both east and west.

Cabin 02

Really more a small home than a cabin this spacious two-bedroom cabin enjoys spectacular views from its deck across the bush clad valley to the ocean. From the deck and the comfortable living area you will enjoy the gorgeous west coast sunsets and watch the native birds riding the thermals above the valley.
